#30.4 TOMAS RAAE : BIRDS ARRIVE

It’s dusk yet, but you know the darkness will win in a little while. It is beautiful and eerie in an exalted way. They land and look at you. Attentive. You know they know something you don’t even know, like some black birds. Quietly, they blend in with the darkness … With The Dim The Darkness Came is an ambient and cinematic album that explores silence, contemplation in the moment, spirituality, history, thoughts and visions. The aim is to create an interreligious sound universe that, through the music archives of history, creates a current sound image that invites open questions; to reflect on what gives meaning, faith and hope, and what people have previously believed in and been willing to fight for.

#26.3 TOMAS RAAE : SUDDENLY THE STARTS APPEARED

You wake up. It is dark. Your heart beats. You begin to faintly sense the outline of space, all senses are awake. Breathe in and you look out the window. Suddenly the stars appear. #26.2 TOMAS RAAE : TWILLIGHT

The sun has set, but there is still a strong reflection of its light in the night sky. Twilight. One can faintly see the outline of objects on the ground, while the horizon is more difficult to distinguish. It rains. It’s in a little while it all begins, the magic arises and the story begins?

#5.2 JORGENSEN ISLAND : FLOWER

Danish summers can be short. And wet. This song recalls one of those rare endless summers when the clouds stayed away long enough to leave cracks in the soil. And when all you wanted was to meet old friends, forget your troubles, and just be you.

Jorgensen Island is a scandinavian folk-band, created in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. It is singer & songwriter Tine Kjær, and her musical companion & producer Tomas Raae. The songs are based on observations, imaginations and stories, wrapped in a dusty neo-folk-like universe. The female vocal leads us through journeys, love, nature, dusty roads and dead ends.

#29.1 TOMAS RAAE : MONTSÉGUR

Dark night. Just before dawn. It blows. One looks out towards the horizon but cannot see. One can hope. One can pray. One can not know. The music is also a thought from a dark night in a dark story from a mountain in the south of France.

#22.1 THE MALIBU BEACHBAND : THE BEACH / THE END

“The beach / The End” was originally written for a completely seductive play called “The Late Wedding” by the American playwright Christopher Chen. It is a dark and violent, but beautiful, song about being abandoned by a loved one. Passed away, left, gone, disappeared, dissolved. About everything you didn’t say, do or experience together ….

#18.11 TOMAS RAAE : DAWN

The first moment you can catch a glimpse of the sun peeking over the edge of the horizon is always incredibly peaceful. Whether the night has been long and dark, whether the thoughts have been heavy and gone in circles. Just when the sun is shining, there is hope and peace. Co-creator of the music is the sound of a hanging birch standing in front of my father’s cottage. Under that tree I have stood many times and looked out over SeierØ bay while the sun rose.
