TOMAS RAAE (1978)
Working the combination of acoustic instrument, digital sampling and live electronics Tomas Raae creates a music that points to the ambient but dramatic film scores by Warren Ellis & Nick Cave, the immersive sound environments by Ryuichi Sakamoto – all finalized with a nordic sound and tone bringing thoughts of woods, fog, early breeze and morning sunrise.
Tomas Raae is working with music in the field of cinematic soundscaping, presenting a strong emphasis on soothing sounds and sonic semiotic meaning within the context of a clear musical and lyrical expression. Strong interest in relations, existentialism, modern music and nature as the surrounding energy is ever present in the music of Tomas Raae.
Together with long time collaborator, Jakob Thorkild (electronics), and with visuals bringing the element of nature into the concert room, Tomas Raae performs the music with one overall objective; the uniqueness of the moment and the organic sound of music being performed by musicians who listens their way through the performance.
As a producer, composer, songwriter and bass player, Tomas Raae plays a very active part in the realm of Danish music, theater and exhibition.
Furthermore, Tomas Raae is the architect behind the band The Malibu Beach Band – which is a collective of acclaimed, innovative and idiosyncratic musicians working for creating a unique, moving and smouldering ambient indie music.
